With a modern twist on Irish folk tradition, ‘Mother’ is a nostalgic song that captures the essence of a childhood surrounded by nature and a deep-rooted love for the land. The writing process started on an October evening, the night before Bríd left her childhood home for good. Many of the sentiments throughout the song come from having to say goodbye to that chapter of her life. The song was completed the following Mother’s day, as Bríd reminisced on the cycles of life that are also reflected in the courses of nature. The song also stems from the Irish tradition of passing down stories from generation to generation.

Overworked like Mother's hands

The river is lazy and late on its journey
The fish disturbs the still
